I am a couple of weeks behind on my Good Deeds posts. That’s not to say that I haven’t been accomplishing these good deeds. I just haven’t had a chance to post about them. For Good Deed #11, I decided to donate my maternity clothes to a person in need.
I had a huge box of maternity clothes, many still with tags on them. I was given tons of clothes when I was pregnant with my first child, but most of them either didn’t fit or weren’t season-appropriate. So I kept them for the next baby, who came along 6 years later and was born only two days before Monster’s birthday! So the clothes went unused. When I added the clothes that I actually wore from this second pregnancy, I had a massive amount of clothes.
I debated whether to try to sell the clothes on Ebay or consign them at one of the local consignment sales. But honestly I didn’t think the amount of money I would get would be worth the effort. Plus, I decided I would feel much better about helping out another pregnant woman who couldn’t afford to buy a new wardrobe that would last only a few months.
I donated the maternity clothes to a nice young woman, and I am so glad that I did. Of course, Monster and his baby sister came along to help, and I used it as an opportunity to talk about the importance of giving to others.
What will your next good deed be?
